ICAI has introduced a significant improvement to the CA Examination application process: students can now select their exact exam center within their chosen city — not just the city — at the time of submitting the exam form. This update applies to all CA levels — Foundation, Intermediate, and Final. Here is everything you need to know.

Important — Preference Is Not a Guarantee
While you can now select your preferred center, ICAI reserves the right to make the final allotment based on administrative reasons. The confirmed center will be shown on your Admit Card. Always verify from the Admit Card — not the form you submitted.

The Green / Red Center Color System — Explained
What each color means when you're selecting your center
🟢 Green Center
Seats are available. You can select this center. Gives you the best chance of being allotted to it — subject to final ICAI confirmation.
🔴 Red Center
This center is currently full. You can still choose it using the overbooking option — ICAI may accommodate you or assign a nearby alternative.
Zonal System in Large Cities
For large cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bangalore, ICAI has divided centers into geographical zones — North, South, East, West, Central. Select the zone closest to your home, then pick the center within that zone. This prevents students from being allotted centers on the opposite side of a large metro city.

Start Here
Log in to the ICAI SSP Portal
Go to ssp.icai.org and log in with your student credentials. Locate the Examination Form in the left panel of your dashboard. The form only appears during the active application window.

ICAI's guidelines screen appears before the form loads. Read every point — this covers eligibility, fee rules, and center selection rules. Students who skip this often face issues during submission.

Identity Verification
Verify Your Photo and Signature
Confirm that your uploaded photograph and signature match your current ID documents. Mismatches can cause problems at the exam center. If there is a discrepancy, update your records before submitting the form.

Paper Selection
Check Paper Exemptions
Exemptions (papers where you scored 60+ in a previous attempt) are automatically populated. Review them carefully. If an exemption is missing or incorrectly shown, correct it on this screen before you pay.

Choose the green center closest to your home. If your preferred center is red, use the overbooking option.

Don't miss any of these when filling your form
- Apply early in the window — green centers can turn red fast as students submit forms. First few days of the window = most options.
- Preference ≠ guarantee — ICAI confirms the final center on your Admit Card. Selection is a preference, not a booking.
- Verify photo and signature first — mismatches cause problems on exam day. Check before paying, not after.
- Review exemptions manually — they're auto-filled, but a missing exemption needs to be corrected before payment.
- Download the PDF immediately — this is your only confirmation at the time of submission.
- Always verify from your Admit Card — the Admit Card is the final word on your exam center.
- Do not wait until the last day — popular centers and zones fill up. Late applicants often find all nearby centers are red.
- Check eligibility before filling the form — especially for CA Inter (8-month study period) and CA Final (articleship requirements). Submitting without eligibility wastes your fee.
