Part A — Business Mathematics
CA Foundation Business Mathematics is the first section of Paper 3 and covers Chapters 1 to 8 of the ICAI Study Material — ratio and proportion, equations, linear inequalities, mathematics of finance, permutations and combinations, sequences and series, sets and functions, and differential and integral calculus. It is the largest and most formula-driven of the three sections.
Part B — Logical Reasoning
CA Foundation Logical Reasoning is the second section of Paper 3, covering Chapters 9 to 12 — number series, coding and decoding, odd man out, direction sense test, seating arrangements and blood relations. It is the shortest section and the highest-scoring per hour of study, since it needs no formula base.
Part C — Statistics
CA Foundation Statistics is the third section of Paper 3, covering Chapters 13 to 18 — statistical representation of data, sampling, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability, theoretical distributions, correlation and regression, and index numbers. It carries the largest share of Paper 3 marks after Business Mathematics.
