CBSE - Best Reference Books - Class 12

Commerce Students face a very different and typical type of challenge – they have to get their calculations right, deal with vast syllabi and study business-related terms and jargon. The students need to study systematically and constantly throughout the year to ace the boards. Here are some tips for the core subjects of Commerce. To achieve decent score in boards a student needs to follow the following tips while studying commerce for class 12:-

1- Accountancy : D.K. Goel and T.S. Grewal. Undoubtedly these two are considered as best books because they cover all the topics in the chapter as well as provide sample questions for practice.

2- Business Studies : Subhash Dey (for brief chapters and revision) and Poonam Gandhi (for detailed explanation and extra knowledge).

3- English : Arihant- Last 10 year papers (it is a book which segregates all the board question with the solutions chapter-wise), All in one .

4- Economics : Dr. Anoop Atria ( good in all aspects ), Radha Bahuguna ( some concepts provided are so good that you will never forget in your life ), T.R. Jain & V.K. Ohri (HOTS question are good for conceptual clarity).

5- Maths — R.D. Sharma ( if you practice the subject regularly), NCERT Exemplar by Arihant (it contains questions of exemplar with solutions and some tricks also to be used to solve the question).

Why refer to other books?

One important thing that is clear to a commerce student is that all the subjects that one studies as a student of commerce are more or less concerned with reproducing the content in the book onto the paper in the exam. However, one should also be aware that all these theoretical subjects have practical applications in our daily life. So, to get a better hang of the correlation between the theory and the application and the way these theories are deduced from practicality, one should have wide knowledge and be open to a lot of ideas and perspectives.

• It is to be borne in mind that reference books provide additional knowledge and aid in more practice to train the mind for exam. So, never stick to reference books alone. Always be thorough with your NCERT books, solve all the questions that these books contain. Use the reference books for reference.
• Solve previous year papers, solve the various sample papers available for each course. Sample Papers makes you exam ready as it will be easier for you to cover the syllabus before the exam when you have tight time schedules.
