ICAI CA Intermediate Eligibility and Registration Procedure

If you are willing to appear for the Intermediate exam in May 2019 then you have to register yourself on or before 1st September 2019. The students who are already registered for the IPCC will get a number of attempts to clear the examination with the old course up to may 2019 (expected).

The whole Chartered accountant syllabus is divided into three levels. The basic entrance test in the CA Course is CA Foundation and the next level after that is CA Intermediate and the last step is CA Final.

The ICAI has revised scheme for ca course w.e.f  1/ 07/ 2017. CPT (Common Proficiency Test ) is replaced by CA Foundation Course and IPC is replaced by CA Intermediate Course.

One needs to pass the entry level i.e. CA Foundation to be eligible to register in CA Intermediate. Apart from passing CA Foundation, there are also other procedures or we can say other routes through which a student can enroll for Intermediate.

Let’s understand it in detail –

CA Intermediate Fee Structure

If you are registering into the Intermediate level through the CPT or CA Foundation route then you have an option that you can register for either both groups or for a single group.

But if you are registering through the direct entry scheme then you don’t have the above option and you have to register for both the groups at a time.

We are providing you a chart below to understand CA Intermedaite fee structure with an ease.

Details of Fees Both Groups (Rs) Single Group (Rs)
Registration Fee 15000 11000
Student’s Activity Fee 2000 2000*
Registration Fee as article assistant 1000
Total Fees 18000 13000

* To be paid once.

The students who are entering in the CA Course by the Direct Entry Route have to pay Rs 200 as a cost of prospectus in addition to the above fees.

Addition to the above fees, Direct entry students also need to register themselves for the ITT and OP training program before registering for the practical training each for the 15 days.

CA Intermediate fee for ITT(Information Technology Training) Program is Rs 6500/- inclusive of the Study Material and tea/refreshment provided by the  ICAI.

And the fee for the OP (Orientation Program ) is Rs 7000/- inclusive of Study Material and tea/refreshment provided by the ICAI.

However, the students from the normal route or the students who are registered after clearing the Intermediate level of the ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) or ICWAI (Institute of Cost Accountants of India) can complete these training after passing either single or both the groups of Intermediate but before commencement of practical training.

CA Intermediate Eligibility –

  1. There is also a direct entry route through which a candidate can enroll for Intermediate directly without going through Either CPT or CA Foundation.
    • Students who are Graduate/ Post Graduate in Commerce and secured a minimum of 55% can register directly for Intermediate without passing CA  Foundation or CPT.
    • Similarly like Commerce Graduates, Non-commerce Graduates/ Post Graduates can also register for Intermediate by securing 60% marks in Graduation/ Post Graduation.
    • Apart from the above, the students who cleared the Intermediate level of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

The above students can get register directly for an Intermediate level without passing entrance level.

The students who are appearing in the Intermediate examinations through the Foundation route are required to undergo 8 months of study period after registering for Intermediate Course.

The candidates who are there in the last year of their graduation and planning for direct entry in ca intermediate can register for the Intermediate course on the Provisional basis.

And in order to appear in the Intermediate examination, they need to successfully complete nine months of practical training.

However, they can commence practical training only on the successful submission of the proof that they have passed their graduation successfully with the specified percentage discussed above. How to check the CA Intermediate Registration Status

Once the registration is completed, students generally get bother that whether their registration is done or not. You need not to bother friends.

By following these simple steps you can check your registration status-

  1. Go to the ICAI website.
  2. Then on the upper right corner you will find E- services. Click on the E- services.
  3. This will take you to the page where you will find “Reprint Letter”. Click on it.
  4. This will look like this –
    ca intermediate registration status window
  5. Fill the required details.
  6. This will generate letter showing your registration status.
  7. This process may take 30 – 40 days to get updated. So, you have to visit the site regularly.
  8. However, if the above time has passed and your registration status is not updated then you should enquire with your concerned  regional office on any working day.

Once the registration is completed you can start your studies. Most probably the Study Material given by the Institute is the best because it covers each and every thing. However, for the practice purpose Practical Manuals dispatch by the ICAI along with the Study Material is best.

But, if you are facing difficulty in studying with the study material of the Institute then you may also refer the other author’s books.

As the course is very vast, don’t take it light friends. Intermediate is not easy like CPT or CA Foundation. Level is five times high. You really need to work hard.
