How to Use CA Foundation Mock Test Papers Effectively
Treat every MTP as a live exam, not an open-book exercise. Students who convert MTP practice into marks follow a fixed routine across the last eight weeks before the Attempt.
- Time it strictly. Three hours for Papers 1 and 2, two hours for Papers 3 and 4 — no pauses, no notes.
- Attempt before you read the answers. Downloading both PDFs together is the single biggest mistake we see.
- Mark yourself against the ICAI Suggested Answers. Award marks the way an examiner would, presentation and working notes included.
- Log every error by chapter. After two MTPs a clear pattern of weak chapters appears — that becomes your revision list.
- Watch the negative marking. Papers 3 and 4 are objective with a 0.25 mark penalty; blind guessing costs more than skipping.
Series I vs Series II — What Changes
Series I is released roughly two months before the Attempt and is best used as a diagnostic after your first full revision. Series II arrives closer to the exam and is tuned to the final pattern — use it as your dress rehearsal in the last three weeks.
CA Foundation Paper Pattern — ICAI New Scheme
- Paper 1 – Accounting: 100 marks, subjective, 3 hours.
- Paper 2 – Business Laws: 100 marks, subjective, 3 hours.
- Paper 3 – Quantitative Aptitude: 100 marks, objective with negative marking, 2 hours.
- Paper 4 – Business Economics: 100 marks, objective with negative marking, 2 hours.
Passing requires 40% in each paper and 50% in aggregate. There is no Exemption carry-forward at the Foundation level, so all four papers must clear in the same Attempt.

Are CA Foundation Mock Test Papers free to download?
Yes. All CA Foundation MTP Question Papers and Suggested Answers listed on this page are issued free by ICAI and hosted on the ICAI resource server. Zeroinfy links to them for student reference at no cost and does not charge for access.
When does ICAI release the Mock Test Papers for each Attempt?
ICAI releases Series I roughly six to eight weeks before the Attempt and Series II about three weeks before it. Exact schedules are announced on the ICAI BoS Knowledge Portal. We update this page within 24 hours of every release.
How many Mock Test Papers should I solve before the CA Foundation exam?
Solve both Series of the current Attempt for all four papers, then work backwards through the previous two Attempts. That gives you roughly six full-length attempts per subject, which is enough to stabilise speed and presentation without eating into revision time.
Is the MTP different from the RTP and past Attempt papers?
Yes. The Mock Test Paper is a full-length practice paper set to exam pattern. The Revision Test Paper is a chapter-wise question bank with amendments for the Attempt. Past Attempt papers are the actual questions asked. Use all three, in that order of priority.
Do Old Scheme Mock Test Papers still help under the New Scheme?
Partly. Accounting and Quantitative Aptitude questions remain largely transferable. Business Laws and Business Economics changed materially, so check every question against the current syllabus before solving. Prioritise New Scheme MTPs and use the archive only for extra practice.
